Preserving the classic charm of the historic four-story, 220,000 square foot New England mill building while incorporating cost-efficient, state-of-the-art building systems into a new office facility was essential to the renovation of this 100-year old building located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Eight connected buildings are configured around an interior courtyard and glass-enclosed atrium. The glazing consists of insulated operable windows to replicate the original window design. Typically, the interior consists of sandblasted exposed brick walls, sandblasted exposed beams and plank ceilings.
Other features include glass cab elevators with revealed wall panels and indirect fluorescent lighting above polished stainless steel ceilings.
